Hathor — The Keeper of Joy

Joy does not need to be earned.
It does not have to wait until everything is perfect.
Sometimes joy is sacred simply because we are here to feel it.

Beside the life-giving waters of the Nile sits Hathor — The Keeper of Joy.

One of the great goddesses of ancient Egypt, Hathor was associated with love, beauty, music, dance, motherhood and celebration. She reminds us of something we can so easily forget: that pleasure, laughter, tenderness and delight have a place within a meaningful life too.

Here, Hathor rests peacefully beside her sacred cow, the two adorned with flowers as though the landscape itself has dressed them for celebration.
Around them, lotus flowers rise from the water, symbols of renewal and rebirth. In the distance, the ancient landscape stretches beneath a luminous sky, while above Hathor the crescent moon quietly watches.

There is no battle to be fought here.
No path to conquer.
No darkness demanding to be overcome.
There is simply a moment in which to be.

Hathor invites us to notice beauty while it is here. To listen to music that makes us move. To laugh without apology. To love deeply. To surround ourselves with the people, animals and places that make something inside us soften.

Her sacred cow represents nurture, motherhood and abundance — the gentle strength that feeds and sustains life. Draped in blossom beside Hathor, she becomes both companion and symbol of the tenderness that exists alongside joy.

Hidden within the ancient stone is the spiral — a reminder that our journey is not made only from the difficult chapters. The moments of happiness belong to our story too.

The Keeper of Joy asks us not to postpone our happiness until some imagined day when everything is finished, healed or exactly as we hoped it would be.

Pick the flowers.
Play the music.
Love the people who are here.
Notice the moon.
Celebrate the small things.
And when joy finds you, however briefly, let yourself receive it.
