Where My Art Began: Sea, Silence, and Something Older

Where My Art Began

Sea, silence, memory, atmosphere, and the quiet pull towards something older than words.

The sea has always felt like home to me.

Not just on calm days, when the light dances gently across the water—but in the storms too. The crashing waves, the dark skies, the feeling that something ancient is moving just beneath the surface. There’s a kind of honesty there. A rawness. A truth.

I think, in many ways, that’s where my art began.

Not in a single moment, but in a quiet unfolding. A pull towards nature, towards stillness, towards something deeper than words. Over time, painting became the way I could hold onto those feelings—the ones that don’t quite fit into everyday life.

Woodland paths, moonlit skies, birds in flight, the hush of early morning… these aren’t just scenes to me. They are moments of connection. Of grounding. Of remembering something older, something instinctive.

My work is deeply inspired by the natural world and the subtle energy that runs through it. There’s a spiritual thread woven into everything I create—shaped by a pagan path, by the rhythms of the seasons, by the quiet presence of the land, sea, and sky.

When I paint, I’m not just trying to capture what something looks like. I’m trying to capture how it feels.

The peace of standing alone on a shoreline.
The comfort of trees surrounding you like old friends.
The sense that you are part of something vast, and alive, and listening.

If someone connects with one of my paintings—if it brings them a moment of calm, or a memory, or a feeling they can’t quite name—then I know I’ve done what I set out to do.

This space will become a small window into that process.

Each week, I’ll be sharing what I’ve been working on—glimpses of paintings in progress, the inspiration behind them, and the thoughts that sit quietly in the background while I create.

It won’t be polished or perfect. Just honest.

A reflection of the work, the journey, and the moments in between. 🌙
